| Tourism infrastructure worth crores created by KDA goes waste | | Bring picturesque tourist spot Burnayan on Tourism Map: Butt | | Asif Iqbal Naik

Kishtwar, Feb 20: President Youth Volunteers Welfare Association (NGO) Kishtwar, Touseef Iqbal Butt today demanded that the tourism spot of village Pochhal namely Buranayan , district Kishtwar which is just 2.5 kms away from District Headquarter be brought on tourism map of the country and steps be taken to promote Pochhal village as tourism destination. While talking to "Early Times" President, YVWA, Touseef Iqbal Butt, said that Kishtwar has many tourism spots but government is least concerned to develop the infrastructure so as to give face lift to all these spots including Burnayan which is the easiest reachable tourist spot of district Kishtwar. He said that even tourism infrastructure developed by Tourism Development Authority during late Mufti Mohammad Sayed led Congress-PDP government were left abandon at the mercy of the God including Saffron Safari at Pochhal and water sports park at Dool. He said that the Government should take steps for bringing the Burnayan area of village Pochhal on tourism map of the country on the pattern of Baderwah, which will help to boost the economy of the people of the districts. He also informed that during the summer season, almost every school, college preferred to visit Burnayan as excursion, but to the disappointment; the dilapidated road and tourism building destroys the whole charm of beautiful forest and scenery of the area. "Almost every year, science students from Colleges and schools used to visit Burnayan on educational trips like Botanical trips, environmental trips--- but the government are not giving recognition to the village Pochhal on tourism map", rued Touseef Butt.
He said there is immediate need to take steps for making these tourism spots functional round the year by encouraging the tourists by way of creating facilities for the tourist enroute and large scale publicity. He said that former CEO KDA Khalid Jahangir though initiated major initiatives to bring the area on Tourism map, but soon after his transfer the same could not move forward.
He also demanded to construction and maintenance of dilapidated road which led from Metador stop Pochhal to tourist spot Burnayan.
He said that since last twenty years, the said road is without blacktopping, alleged that the concerned department has invested lakhs of funds to build the tourists hut for the tourism purpose but the buildings are in dilapidated condition, added that these tourism buildings situated at upper Pochhal for the gamblers and druggists and urged upon the officials to take immediate steps to end these menace that took place inside these tourism buildings. He also made an appeal to the Governor of state to initiate the positive step for bringing the Burnayan area of Village Pochhal in District Kishtwar on tourism map. |
