BUDGAM, Feb 20: One militant of Hizbul Mujahideen was arrested and an AK-47 has been recovered from his procession during an operation in Makhama area of Budgam district in central Kashmir today. According to sources that, "on Friday late evening there was a moment of some unidentified gunmen's in Peth Makhama village, after which security forces cordoned few suspected houses in Makhama area. Sources said that the search operation was suspended late last night but a tight cordon was maintained around the village to prevent suspected militants from escaping. "On Saturday morning, a heavy contingent of security forces cordoned off the whole area of Peth Makhama following the inputs about the presence of militants", sources told early times. A senior police official said that, "On a tip of information about the presence of some militants in Makhama area, Saturdaymorning a joint team of army police and SOG cordoned off the whole village to nab the hiding the militants. The joint operation to nab suspected militants was launched by Police, SOG Budgam and Baramulla along with army's 2 Rashtriya Rifles and CRPF, the official said. Meanwhile SDPO Magam, Syed Fayaz told early times that, "The militant has been identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Wani alias Molvi, a resident of Chechiloora of Tangmarag area was arrested at village Peth Makhama in Magam area today morning. When asked about recovery, he said "one AK assault rifle and some ammunition like 3 magazines, 87 rounds, 1 pouch, and wireless set were recovered from the possession of the captured militant. Official said that a case has been registered in police station Magam vide FIR no: 29/2016 U/S 7/25 arms act, added investigations have been taken up. |
