SP's wings clipped, turns mail dispatcher | | | Harish Chander Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 20: The wings of an additional SP, posted in a district of Jammu region, have been clipped by his senior who is said to have divested him of his 'powers' and given him the job of dispatching mails and other official documents. The district SP and SP's boss is an IPS officer, who has strictly asked him not to interfere in the working of police stations. In the past, whenever he tried to intervene in the working of police stations in the district, he was reprimanded by the SSP, police sources said. The SSP had given him the job of dispatching mails and other official documents, depriving him of his powers, the sources added. Sources said though the SP himself was politically well connected, he could not do any damage to the SSP because of the blessings of PHQ which the latter enjoyed. Due to his strong PHQ connections, a BJP Minister, formerly a Congress leader, had failed to get him transferred outside the district, sources informed. This is SSP's first posting in a district. The SP was posted under him after his promotion. Before becoming SP, he has served as DSP at several important places in the region. Apart from dispatching mails, he was also given the job of organising police functions in the district, sources said. The SP is good at work. The lack of self-worth and feeling of not measuring up to standards in the SSP could be a reason to keep the SP off the actual police working, sources pointed out. |
