Early Times Report

srinagar, Apr 9: Special CRPF DG S K Bhagat Saturday claimed that terrorists had been getting support and shelter in north and south Kashmir areas.
"After infiltrating into the Indian territory, they go to north and south areas of Kashmir where they get shelter," he said on the sidelines of a function at Humhama.
Bhagat said in Kashmir, where militancy had declined, the number of local militants was more than that of foreigners.
"The figures suggest that local militants have outnumbered the non-locals. There are young elements here who join militancy without knowing the repercussions. I can say, they do it under the influence of romanticism full of emotions. We must create such an environment that the potential of such teens could be used for the betterment of the nation," he added.
In reply to a query, the special CRPF DG said youth in Kashmir swayed in emotions after terrorists like Burhan Wani started appearing on social media sites, uploading photographs with his companions. "In one of the photographs, that was uploaded by Burhan, there were nine militants. Five of them have been neutralized so far. Security Forces have managed to achieve great success against militants due to effective intelligence network," he added.
To another question, Bhagat said CRPF always "works under the command of local police". "At NIT, we were deployed under the command of local police. We did our job objectively and in a neutral manner. There is effective coordination between all the security agencies," he said.
