Spectre of Sajjad, Gupta's discontent haunt BJP | Anger brews among cadres in Doda, Udhampur over 'non-representation' | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 9: In what can be seen trouble brewing up for ruling BJP, the cadres and workers in Doda and Udhampur districts are a disgruntled lot over non-representation in the Council of Ministers. Defying high command's decision about inclusion of the persons in the government, the cadres led by Mandal Pradhan's have also decided not to convene Mandal level meetings of the party scheduled on Sunday. Mandal level meetings are convened on 10th of every month by the party leadership to take review of the activities. Sources said on one hand it is the 'spectre' of deeply disappointed Sajjad Gani Lone and Pawan Gupta which is hanging over the party, and on the other scene is worrisome too from Doda district where BJP registered win on two seats for the first time by a huge margin. Cadres and workers in the district who were upbeat after registering victory were highly hopeful of leadership giving representation to at least one representative in the Council of ministers by dropping a couple of people who were taken on board last year. Both Lone and Gupta are openly raising revolt over what they feel 'injustice' with them. Sajjad Lone, pertinent to say, is not at all happy with the portfolio given to him in the second innings. Sources also said the name of Shakti Parihar was almost final from Doda district and Dina Nath from Chenani that would have ensured representation to both the districts. It was almost settled that an MoS in the Mufti government would be dropped this time, for the fact that the minister had availed twin benefit of being nominated to Assembly first followed by berth in the council of ministers. A strong lobby that worked in the MoS's favour did not only ensure the latter's continuation but also additional portfolios this time. Sources also said replacement of Pawan Gupta by Reasi's Ajay Nanda has not augured well for the party as disgruntled workers and cadres are defying this openly. Nanda, sources said has managed 'entry' on account of he being in good books of RSS and a strong lobby within the party having worked against Pawan Gupta resulting in his ouster. However, both the decisions-continuation of the former MoS and ouster of Gupta-- have become fresh trouble for the party, sources said adding that discontentment so brewing up fast will first get reflected in the Mandal level meetings of the party, which may not happen at all. |
