Rail service remains suspended for 2nd day in Kashmir

Srinagar, Apr 14: Rail service remained suspended for the second day today for security reasons, following a strike call given by separatists against death of a youth after being hit by a teargas shells yesterday in the frontier district of Kupwara.Earlier, two youths and a woman were killed on April 12 in alleged firing by Army in the same district.
Army had allegedly opened fire to disperse the villagers, who were protesting after a soldier tried to molest a girl at Handwara.
All trains operating between Srinagar-Badgam and Baramulla in north Kashmir remained suspended for security reasons, railway officials said. They said similarly rail runs between Srinagar-Anantnag-Qazigund in south Kashmir to Banihal in Jammu region have been cancelled for the day.
Rail services have been suspended in view of the past experience when property worth crores of rupees had been damaged during demonstrations in the valley
