Police officer makes way for smuggling of Rs 1.5 cr heroin

JAMMU, Apr 14: A DySP allegedly moved smartly, dodged the lower rung police officers to facilitate drug mafia who succeeded in smuggling heroin worth Rs 1.5 crore via road just with in a span of 15 days from the jurisdiction of two police stations.
"The police officer at his own level divert all the naka points of two police stations in border Sub-Division along the roadside and engage the nafri of two police stations of his jurisdiction in raids just to provide safe passage to the drug mafia", said a police source pleading anonymity.
Another source in the Police Department claimed that the officer diverted them very smartly but later they came to know from local source of police that heroin worth Rs 1.5 crore has been smuggled via road in last 15 days with the blessings of the said senior police officer.
Well known about the fact that some police officers are hand in glove with drugs mafia, senior police officers who have claimed that they launched drive against drug mafia, have maintain criminal silence which raised eye brows of many.
The said officer who is allegedly facilitating drug mafia is at the verge of retirement but none of the senior police officers has dared to shift him despite repeated complaints about his involvement in the drug trade.
The alleged involvement of some lower rank police officers had already figured in the illegal drug trade, the sources added, saying the unlawful business could not flourish without active police support.
After the promotion as DySP of the said officer, his posting as SDPO was managed by an influential person who is said to be close to him.
He was alleged to have helped some criminals at the instance of his 'mentor'.
Earlier, a senior police officer lodged complaint against the said SDPO wherein the officer alleged that resentment has been brewing against the DySP because of the deteriorating law and order situation in his area. He has also said that his continuance as SDPO will not be good for Police Department," the sources added.
Sources further said that the said SDPO is under the scanner of Police Headquarters (PHQ) and some senior police officers are secretly collecting reports about the said incident but remained tight lipped over the issue.
