| 'Separatists in search of more dead bodies to continue turmoil' | | Victim punctures molestation allegation, blames miscreants for melee | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Apr 14: Separatists, who are always in search of dead bodies, are trying their best to ensure that Handwara incident is blown out of proportion and the prevailing uncertainty in Kashmir is encashed to the hilt.
Separatists, according to the sources, are making overt and covert attempts to instigate the people to hit the streets so that a few more people lose their lives and they get a chance to call the shots. "Strict restrictions in the sensitive areas in Srinagar and in north Kashmir are preventing the separatists from succeeding in their nefarious designs," said a source.
He said, "Separatists have asked their henchmen to mobilize the stone pelters and their ring leaders so that normalcy doesn't return."
Insiders revealed, "The girl whom a few miscreants had claimed was molested by soldier mustered courage and issued a statement that no molestation attempt was made and whatever happened in Handwara was a pre-planned move. Her bold statement has left the separatists red faced. Now they are trying to hide behind the killings which took place after the false news about the molestation bid spread in Handwara town."
Even the local people are demanding that Government should probe the circumstances which led to Handwara killings. "People are demanding that miscreants who spread the molestation rumor should be taken to task and separatists should stop playing hartal politics over dead bodies," said a Kashmir watcher.
He said, "To keep the pot boiling separatists gave back to back shutdown calls. The Hurriyat dove Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has chipped in by giving a protest call on Friday. Restrictions and shutdown have crippled the normal life in Kashmir and everything has been paralyzed."
Sources said, "Separatists are under tremendous pressure from their bosses sitting across the Line of Control to ensure that situation in Kashmir remains tense and every possible attempt should be made to create 2010 like situation."
A top police official while talking to Early Times said, "We are keeping a strict vigil over the activities of the separatists and suspects are being watched. If need arises we will ensure that noted trouble makers and stone pelters are taken into custody."
Meanwhile, the situation in Srinagar city has remained peaceful during the last four days despite the shutdown called by the separatists. "People seem to be least interested in what separatists are doing. Had authorities not imposed restrictions there was every possibility of life remaining normal. Shutdown call has not evoked any response in civil line areas of the Srinagar city," said a resident.
"Every Kashmiri has realized that shutdown is no solution and it adds to our problems. The video of the girl which has gone viral is an ample proof of the fact that trouble mongers want to instigate people to run their shops. Killings are unfortunate but what led to the killings should be brought to fore," he added. |
