Ex-JKSACS project director lands in vigilance net | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 27: Ex-project director of J&K State Aids Control Society (JKSACS), Dr Rakesh Khajuria, who has held various important posts in health department, has landed in vigilance net for allegedly making the appointment of an undeserving female candidate to the post of quality manager. The post of quality manager was advertised along with other posts by JKSACS on April 2, 2012 vide employment notification No 01 and eligibility for it was fixed as B Pharma with 3-year experience in blood bank or pharma industry. The vigilance probe revealed that one Priyanka Thusoo was appointed as quality manager (blood safety) without any exerpience in the field. She was not found eligible for the post as she had done only B Pharma and did not have 3-year experience in blood bank or pharma industry. She only had the certificate of a lecturer issued to her by Sain Charitable Institute of Para- Medical Sciences. The probe revealed that while Priyanka was not eligible for the post, she had been knowingly and dishonestly shortlisted for interview by Dr Khajuria and other members of the selection committee in connivance with each other. In furtherance of the alleged conspiracy, they had awarded her 10 marks for possessing additional qualification which was never a part of the eligibility criteria. Dr Khajuria and others then appointed Priyanka as quality manager, thereby conferring undue benefit upon her for which she was not entitled. With these findings, the vigilance organisation has registered a case against Dr Khajuria and other accused under section 5(1) (d) read with sections 5(2) of P C Act and 120-B of RPC. Further investigation in the case was in progress.
