Cabinet fails to order transfers, thanks to BJP | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 27: It was all due to lack of consensus among ministers of "disciplined" BJP that no decision could be taken on transfers in today's Cabinet meeting, which was held this evening. Credible sources in the corridors of power revealed that there was proposals of the transfers in police and civil administration but BJP ministers failed to give their approval on these transfers. Sources further said that there was complete consensus among PDP ministers on transfers and postings but BJP ministers were not unanimous on postings of some officers. Credible sources said that instead of giving authority to any single minister to take on behalf of the party, every BJP minister has prepared his own lists of blue-eyed officers to be posted in their respective areas. PDP leadership does not want to interfere in Jammu region and BJP leadership was asked to final list of officers both police and civil to be posted in this region but BJP ministers failed to evolve consensus so decision to transfer some officers was delayed. Meanwhile State cabinet, which met here today with Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti in chair, welcomed the resumption of Indo-Pak talks and hailed the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi's efforts of reviving the peace process in the region. "The Cabinet observed that while peace process between India and Pakistan is of great significance for the whole South Asian region, it has the greatest impact on Jammu and Kashmir which faces the maximum brunt because of Indo-Pak hostilities," Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar said while briefing the media-persons about the decisions taken in today's cabinet meeting. He said in another significant decision, the Cabinet authorized the Department of Industries and Commerce to work-out the modalities for establishing banking facilities for the cross-LoC trade. "This follows the go-ahead from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to institutionalize the cross-LoC trade through a proper banking mechanism and doing away with the present barter system," he said and added that this important decision would go a long way in expanding the scope and ambit of the cross-LoC trade. |
