Misappropriation of nutritious items alleged under ICDS, store sealed | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, May 10: Following complaints of misappropriation of nutritious items under Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS), Programme officer, Rajouri, has sealed a store in CDPO's office in the town here. He also constituted an inquiry team of two CDPOs (child development project officers) of Kalakot and Sunderbani, asking it to submit its report within two days for further action. There are also allegations of bunglings in Anganwari centres. It was alleged that children in these centres were not getting the required nutritious items regularly. Sources said the programme officer, ICDS, Rajouri, had been receiving complaints against the storekeeper for allegedly supplying less quantity of chana, rice, sugar and moong dal to Anganwari workers. "A secret internal inquiry was initiated in this matter and the complaint was found to be genuine. During a surprise visit to the store, it was locked for further investigation," said ICDP programme officer Nazir Shiekh. He said the two-member committee constituted by him had been directed to submit its report within two days so that further action under law was taken against the guilty, if any. Instructions had been issued to the heads of all aganwari centres to maintain the requisite quantity of nutritious items. Action under law would be taken against those who were found to be providing less quantity of these items to students, he added. |
