| Water coolers installed in samba town defunct; authorities unconcerned | | | Neeraj Badyal

SAMBA, May 10: Despite rising mercury and intensifying heat wave in the region, the authorities have not cared make water coolers installed in the Samba town functional, so that those on road during hot sunny days could get cool drinking water.
Several water coolers installed by the Municipal Committee Samba (SMC) at various places in the town are in very bad condition due to the apathy of concerned authorities and people are impelled to drink water from ill kept water coolers, while others are left with no other option than to buy water bottles to quench their thirst.
In Samba town these coolers have not been maintained for long time and are defunct owing to poor maintenance. "They worked for few months after their installation But after installation no steps were taken for the maintenance of these machines due to which most of them are now not in working condition" said a local. |
