Early Times Report

Kathua, May.10: Hundreds of Kanals state land has been encroached in entire district Kathua but despite of strict instructions from court and state government, the Kathua Administration utterly has failed to retrieve such encroached land.
According to official sources, the open Irrigation land, forests land and state land in entire district including Kathua tehsil has been grabbed by influential and land mafia but the authorities concerned instead of being alert and active to take action have completely failed to ensure steps to vacate state land from illegal encroachments.
According to a government order DDC & SSP concerned shall be responsible for encroachment and impediment to take action against encroachers, but this order too seems to have no effect as the illegal encroachments are going unabated in entire Kathua district.
Recently in a glaring example of state land encroachment, a case has been highlighted by Rural body members of Panchayat Juthana who accused District administration of not taking due steps to vacate 40 Kanal state land encroached by one Chajju Ram, Ambo, Ratta all sons of Sunko Ram R/o Jhuthana.
Meanwhile Balbinder Singh, Chairman Panchayat Jhuthana said all these have their own 14 Kanal 9 marla land bearing Khasra no 219 but they encroached their adjoining state land of 40 kanals bearing Khasra no 215 and construct temporary sheds.
Rural body members pointed out the encroachment before Tehsil and DDC offices but all were in vain as nothing has been done by administration to retrieve such land.
Singh also said though Mahesh Sharma Patwari and Police party from Jakhol Chowki reached to the spot but did not vacate the land as encroachers are allegedly backed by BSP leader Som Raj Majotra who is known for his volatile speeches which have potential to flare community clashes.
Singh said the said land could be used for Primary Health centre, school, mini stadium or community hall which is possible only after due intervention of Minister for Revenue. He appealed Revenue minister to take serious step in this regard and vacate such land for the use of general public.
Halima Begum, Dev Raj, Mukhtiyar Singh (Panchs of theoir respective areas) also alleged that about 100 kanals of land in same village too has been encroached but district administration again has failed to retrieve it. They have demanded action in this regard failing so the people of area wopuld come to roads against revenue department.
