Gallons of water go waste, forcing several localities in Mendhar to face water scarcity | | | M S NAZKI Mendhar, May 11: Accusing the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department Poonch for failing to ignore their plight, the residents of Mendhar of Poonch district here have demanded immediate redressal of their genuine grievances including the water scarcity. Provoked due to the acute water scarcity, the agitated locals lamented that water pipes supplying water to the several areas viz. Gohlad Mohra Kallar Chatral Kalaban Ari harni mendhar town and Balakote have gone old and thus are leaking further resulting into water wastage and water scarcity in tail ends areas. Agitated residents told Early Times that with the non-availability of water in the areas, people in the area are facing immense hardships. "Despite reminders the PHE authorities have failed to restore an adequate water supply,' locals alleged. They also said that the authorities from past several months have failed to restore/maintain the main water pipeline which leaves hundreds of residents to suffer. The residents said that PHE department has left them on God's mercy. "Nobody is paying heed to our sufferings, they alleged and added, "we are not getting drinking water from last several months thereby forced to use contaminated water from conventional water resources. President Mendhar youth Assocation Rameez Raja a resident of Kalaban alleged that the authorities have failed redress the genuine grievances of inhabitants reasons better known to them. He and other locals have appealed top authorities and minister concerned to look into the matter so that villagers could get some respite from their plight. |
