Cancellation of interviews for Legal Assistants' posts draws flak | | | Akshay Azad Early Times Report Jammu, May 11: In yet another shocking development, the Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board (JKSSB) on Wednesday cancelled interviews for the posts of Legal Assistants' midway, posing a serious question over the efficiency and credibility of the agency, which had earlier invited criticism for mass copying in various exams, forcing it to cancel the same. Aspirants informed Early Times that JKSSB had called aspirants of district Doda and Jammu for interviews for the posts of Legal Assistant and Junior Legal Assistant. "A total of 32 candidates were called at JKSSRB office at sharp 8:30 AM,but the interviews started at 11AM", an aspirant said, adding that after interviewing nearly six candidates the process was stopped. They further said that it was like bolt from blue for all the aspirants as interviews were cancelled halfway and when inquired from officials they said that it was some technical fault and higher officials from Srinagar had asked for cancellation of interviews. "All officials at JKSSB office were evading queries and one of the KAS officers present there said, he received order from Secretariat to cancel the interview. They gave us number of an official of JKSSB namely Shamim and when one of aspirant called him over phone, they simply feigned ignorance after inquiring about the item number and lists", the aspirants said. "We once again asked the KAS officer, who in turn started communicating with Shamin and later informed us that there was some irregularities with the award sheets of the candidates, forcing them to call off the interviews", he said. Angry aspirants further said that SSB was miserably failed to do its working. "Only two days back the lists of shortlisted candidates were loaded on the website and no interview cards were sent to any candidate. Some of candidates had come for interviews all way from Delhi and Doda but now interviews are cancelled and none will be punished for the discrepancies", they said. Expressing anger over the SSRB's functioning, the fumed aspirants said that the SSB must be closed down. "Earlier there were reports of mass copying after which exams were cancelled and now interviews are cancelled halfway. It is a joke or some Government agency", they said, and appealed Government to shut down the SSRB. A.O Jammu of SSB, Shamim Kraipak said that due to a technical mistake in the printing, the interviews were cancelled. "It was a human error in printing. The next date of interviews will be rescheduled soon", he said. On being asked if any inquiry would be initiated against the official responsible, Kraipak said that it was a human error and no such decision has been taken. |
