J&K Bank lifts State Football Championship | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, May 30: J&K Bank football team put up a wonderful performance on Sunday when they lifted the State Football Championship title by defeating DFA Srinagar XI two goals to one. In a pulsating final played at synthetic turf TRC Srinagar both the sides lifted their game in the second half after the first half ended up as 0-0. J&K Bank's skipper Rohit Kumar scored a fine goal in the 64th minute on a volley rebound from Adnan while as towards the end of the game with only five minutes remaining, Asrar Rehbar of DFA equaled the score when his beautiful header dashed into the net. However, the stunning last-minute kick from Danish Farooq earned the winning goal for the bank. Commenting upon the performance of team Chairman J&K Bank Mushtaq Ahmad said, "The team deserves appreciation for the performance that is getting better and better as the football season proceeds." "I congratulate them and wish them well deserved victories in future as well", he added. Notably, the bank's winning spree continues after their victory in All India Super Society Cup in Lucknow and All India Football Tournament for Bihar Cup in Patna. In the quarterfinal of the State Championship J&K Bank had defeated DFA Pulwama by 6-1 and in the semifinals J&K Police by a solitary goal. |
