| Guidelines violated as PDP leader projects tainted applicant | | SKIMS Director selection | |

Srinagar, May 30: Criterion set for selection of Director for Premier Health institute, SKIMS, Srinagar has been ignored as one noted PDP leader projected one tainted and ineligible applicant for the post.
With the advertisement notification for recruitment of Director for SKIMS, Srinagar, authorities as per official Documents vide number 12-SKIMS of 2010 dated May14,2010 accessed by Early Times issued a set of procedures for the selection of Director purely on the bases of 'merit' and fair bio-data of applicants.
The selection committee after receiving applications for the post as per procedures shall examine the 'bio-data' and other necessary records of applicants which besides academic qualification, administrative and teaching experience includes 'personal records' of applicants to hold prestigious chair of Director, SKIMS.
The documents also reveal that the selection committee shall after completing the process of assessment, prepare a panel of three candidates in order of 'merit' which will be placed before the governing body for making selection for the post of Director.
A candidate shall be considered for selection only if he possesses an experience of running a scientific medical education institution as its head, higher post graduate qualification in medicine or surgery with teaching and research experience of not less than ten years and experience of not less than 25 years in the profession.
However keeping all procedures under carpet, highly placedofficial sources said that one noted PDP general secretary and former office bearer of state legislative assembly projects his close associate as new Director for SKIMS despite ineligibility of applicant for the post.
Sources said that applicant projected by PDP leader has dots in personal character as a case of sexual harassment stands registered against him in a police station near SKIMS, Srinagar. Sources said that influential applicant in past was also in radar of vigilance organization Kashmir and involved in Private Practice despite complete.
"This influential Applicant in company of few of his close associates these days visit residence of Politicians in Srinagar, particularly residence of this PDP leader to pave way for his selection as Director SKIMS despite his ineligibility and dotted personal profile."Sources said
They said that applicants with high-quality Achievements in field at\ local and national level with fair personal profile are being ignored to head SKIMS as they don't have contacts in political parties.
Sources said that guidelines for selection of Director for SKIMS are merely issued for deceptive purpose to befool common masses and evade attention of investigating agencies.
"Applicants with first-class merit for the post fear that even Selection committee nominated will be high-jacked by influential applicants as they will strike interview venue with strong political recommendations."Sources said
Pertinently for selection of heads of important institutions including SKIMS, in Kashmir which is due in this week, political recommendation\ over merit of applicants is believed to be preferred with impunity by selectors once again. Minister for Health and Medical education, BhaliBhagat when contacted assured fair selection for the post of Director SKIMS and said that BJP will not tolerate any kind of favoritism for the post.. |
