Jammu, June 27 : A Multi Super Speciality Medical camp and blood donation camp was conducted at Naoshera by the Indian Army deployed at Jhangar with an aim to provide necessary specialist medical care to the needy people of remote border areas. A total of 23 doctors from Naoshera, Rajouri and Jammu attended the camp along with the Army doctors and support staff. A Vaccination and Immunization Camp along with Thallasemia Awareness Drive was also conducted by Army at the venue with the help of Dr Sanjeev Digra from Jammu Medical College who enlightened the local populace about the prevention and management of Thallasemia. In addition, Neonatologist Dr Anuj Bhatti took a lecture on prevention of Neonatal diseases and appraised about congenital anomalies to the attentive civilian and military personnel. A total of 1532 patients were examined by the team of specialists which included Pediatricians, Eye Specialists, Orthopaedicion, Surgeon, General Physicians, ENT, Gynaeclogists and Dental Surgeons and were also given with free medicines. Moreover, a team of five doctors led by BMO Naoshera, Dr Suresh Gupta screened 59 children for further referral and management under the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram. Army also organised a blood donation camp at the venue and donated 51 units of blood on the spot. Army Officials, SDM Naoshera, Additional SP & SDPO Naoshera also graced the event with their presence. The Awaam deeply appreciated the initiative undertaken by the army in providing comprehensive health services - curative, preventive, promotive and referral to the local populace of the border villages.
