Govt considers re-organization of police stations | | | Asif Iqbal Naik Early Times Report Srinagar, June 27: The government of Jammu and Kashmir stated that the re-organization o police stations in the state including that of police Station Kishtwar is under active consideration. In response to C.Q. No. 22 of National Conference MLC, the government stated that police headquarters has been asked to work out a consolidated proposal for creation of police Sub Divisions/Police Stations/ Police Posts keeping in view that it felt requirements of the police department added that same is under examination with the police Headquarters. Reacting to the concern of the MLC that Kishtwar police station is spread over the area of one District of the state (Area of police station Kishtwar is more than Poonch District of Jammu province) and required its bifurcation, RDD Minister Abdul Haq Khan said that PHQ is working on the proposal and assured him that bifurcation of police station Kishtwar will be given priority as and when government plans to bifurcate the police stations in state. In another question on non release of Rs. 6000 salary in favour of SPO's despite government issued order in this behalf through Home Department, Haq Khan assured him that pay as per the new pay band will be released in favour of SPOs added that due to some funding issues, the order was not implemented and assured him that government will fulfill its commitment in this regard. Confronting the government on its reply that establishment of IR Battalion Headquarter at Kishtwar wherein the government has stated that no decision has been taken with regard to establishment of 5 IR battalions sanctioned by Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, NC MLC said that the land has already been acquired for establishment of Battalion Headquater at Kishtwar added that previous government has also posted SSP rank officer as commandant of the newly established Battalion Headquarter at Kishtwar, before same was asked to windup due to some unknown reasons and demanded that the battalion headquarter should be reestablished at Kishtwar with immediate effect. He told the minister that officials are misleading the government over the issue and sought clarification from the government in this regard. Reacting to the allegations of the member, Abdul Haq Khan assured him that government will look into the issue and will go through the details share by him in the Legislative Council. |
