J&K to introduce PMFBY from Kharif, Rabi 2016-17 6/27/2016 11:03:41 PM Early Times Report Srinagar, Jun 27: Jammu and Kashmir will introduce Pardhan ManatriFasal Bima YOjana (PMFBY) from Kharif and Rabi 2016-17 in the state for which necessary budgetary provisions have been kept in the Budget. This information was given by Minister for Agriculture in reply to a Calling Attention Motion notice moved by Mla in the Legislative Assembly today. The minister said that PMFBY is a flagship programme aimed at mitigating the concern of the farmer arising due to losses on account of various weather vagaries. The weather often shetter the economic condition of farmer, henceforth crops are to be brought under PMFBY at nominal premium, the minister said. He said State Administration Council has already accorded its sanction for its implementation in the Jammu and Kashmir and in this backdrop the state government is working on the modalities for implantation of PMFBY from Kharif and Rabi 2016-17. He said state is intending to cover premium rates a per National policy at applicable guidelines so that minimum burden falls on the farmers. Necessary budgetary provisons have been kept during the 1016-17.
