Shutdown, protests spill over to Kishtwar , Rajouri

Kishtwar, July 15: The ongoing protest over the killings of over three dozen civilians post killing of Hizb militant Burhan Wani in an encounter with security forces last Friday today spilled out to Kishtwar and Rajouri districts of Jammu division.
As per the details available with ET, Majlis-e-Shora committee Kishtwar called for the Kishtwar shutdown on Friday, which largely passed off peacefully.
The business community of Kishtwar pulled down their shutters from early morning and the streets of Kishtwar wore deserted look while the transport remained off the road throughout the day. The educational institutes including schools and coaching institutes also remained closed. The angry people installed brackets at all entry and exit points and chocked the roads leading to Kishtwar town as adjoining towns of Kishtwar District observed the shutdown against killing of civilians in Kashmir unrest.
The people in large number after Friday prayers assembled at Bus Stand Kishtwar where they held strong protest against the killings of civilians in Kashmir and restored to Pro freedom slogans. Elaborate security arrangements were put in place by the police and the administration to thwart any attempt of separatist leaders to hold a protest march from adjoining mosques towards Kishtwar bus stand located in the heart of the city. Police and administration also took the help of members of civil society, political parties and social activists to maintain peace, communal harmony and brotherhood in the District that has witnessed large scale communal violence in August 2013.
Meanwhile, protest demonstration were also witnessed in Rajouri after Friday prayers under the leadership of Moulanas to lodge protest against the civilian killings in Kashmir Valley during ensuing clashes between the people and security personnel. Few Kashmiri youth attempted to disturb the peaceful protest demonstration by raising Pro-Azadi , anti-Modi ,anti-State Government & anti-security forces slogans but their attempt was foiled by the organizers .
It was also decided that except four Moulanas no political leader will address the protesters at Gujjar Mandi Chowk where the protesters will stage a protest against innocent civilian killings. Hundreds of people after Friday prayers took out protest demonstrations from Eid Gah and Jamia Masjid and were led by Moulana Mohd Farooq, district president , Mufti Abdul Rouf ,Khatib ,Jamia Masjid (Eid Gah) Moulvi Ghulam Rassol , Khatib Jamia Masjid and Moulvi Mohd Younis, Khatib Barooin Wali Masjid.
