Separatists offer lavish life to families, push common people to protests | Is Hamam Mein Sabh Nangay! | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, July 15: Even as Kashmir continues to be on the edge, the Jammu and Kashmir police has launched a social media drive to expose how separatist leaders were instigating people to protests whereas their own kith and kin enjoy lavish life outside the Valley. As a part of the social media campaign, hash tagged #HurriyatThugLeaders, police wants the protesters to know they were being used by the Hurriyat leadership. The informative posts, being circulated on Watsapp and Facebook, have triggered a new debate in the society while some said it was a propaganda to defame the separatist leadership. Sources said the police want the protesting youth to know the reality of Hurriyat leaders who instigate them to violence. "An eye opener for all Kashmiri youths who are just blindly following these #HurriyatThugLeaders," read the post circulated by police officials. The police have taken the first dig at pro-Pakistan hawk Syed Ali Geelani. "Nayeem Geelani, son of the chairman of the hard line Syed Ali Geelani, is a medical practitioner in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. Geelani's second son, Zahoor Geelani, along with his family lives in New Delhi," the police said. "Geelani's grandson worked for a private airline in Delhi. Geelani's daughter Farhat Geelani is a teacher in Jeddah and her husband is an engineer there," the police exposed. Even the relatives of moderate Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq are settled in the US. "Rabia Farooq, sister of chairman of the moderate faction of the Hurriyat Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, is a doctor and lives in the USA," the police said. The close aides of senior Hurriyat leaders also give fortunes to their families. "The son of Ghulam Mohammed Sumji, General Secretary of the Geelani faction, studied management in New Delhi. Son of Mohammed Ashraf Sehrai, another general secretary of the Geelani faction, is a computer engineer in Dubai," the police said. "Mariyam Andrabi, sister of head of the radical Dukhtran-e-Millat Asiya Andrabi, along with her family lives in Malaysia. Rooma Maqbool, son of head of Mass Movement Farida Behanjee, lives and works as a medical practitioner in South Africa," the police officials said in the posts. "Iqbal and Bilal, sons of head of the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Liberation Party Hashim Qureshi, live in London," the officials said in the "awareness post." "Son of Ayaz Akbar, the spokesman for the Geelani faction, studied management in Pune while two sons of another leader of the Geelani faction Abdul Aziz Dar, Umer Dar and Adil Dar were studying in Pakistan." A police official said it was the bitter reality of Kashmir and that not a single mention in the campaign was fake or untrue. "Let the people themselves verify the facts. Let the reality be told to the world." |
