Besides a volatile Valley, Mehbooba faces heat from within | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, July 15: Grappling with her first major administrative challenge after the killing of terrorist Burhan Wani, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti is confronted with opposition rather than support from within her party at such a crucial time. PDP MP and former Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Beigh has said that standard-operating-procedures (SoPs) in encounter with the Wani, in which he was killed, were not followed. According to reports, he had quoted the statement of an army official who had said that operation to kill Wani, was completed in just three-minutes. Another PDP MP Tarriq Hamid Kara had according to the reports termed the death of Kashmiris in the retaliatory action by the security forces as 'genocide'. These two leaders have tried to embarrass the CM at the most crucial times and in the process have exposed their own real faces. Both Kara and Beigh have tried to undermine the authority of the Mehbooba Mufti after she was made CM. "Both these leaders, who are party MPs, were desperate for ministerial berths in the Centre, which were denied to them as the PDP had decided not to extend its alliance with BJP beyond J&K. this is what is hurting them and they are hitting the CM, when she appears to be most venerable ," said a senior PDP leader. Both Kara and Beigh were with Mehbooba Mufti when she had met the Governor to stake claim for the government formation. In fact it was the first public appearance of the Kara with the Mehbooba Mufti. In the run upto government formation, Kara had assured Mehbooba Mufti of his support but had also said that he will tell the real reasons for supporting the BJP-PDP alliance at an appropriate time. "It's quite ironical that Karra had chosen this time to hit the CM and in way has tried to position himself as the champion of the Kashmiris. However, with Central government fully backing the CM, Kara and Beigh are up for difficult times if they don't side step from the stand they are taking," said the leader. |
