HC directs CAPD Director to supply essential items to Kashmir | | | Early Times Report srinagar, July 15: In a PIL as regards the hardships being faced by the people of Kashmir in getting essential commodities due to curfew restrictions, a high court division bench of Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice M H Attar today directed CAPD director, Kashmir, to ensure supply of essential iterms, particularly food items and LPG, to the public without any hindrance. A letter in this regard written by a people's forum to the court was treated as PIL. The bench observed that in terms of July 14, 2016 order, compliance report had been filed by the director health services, Kashmir, CAPD director, Kashmir, SKIMS director and principal of Medical College, Srinagar. After going through the status report, the bench directed CAPD director to ensure supply of essential iterms, particularly food items and LPG, to the public without any hindrance in the mode which was feasible. In his report, The medical college principal stated that an amount of Rs 11 lakh had been kept at the disposal of medical superintendent for the purchase of drugs of emergent nature. The advcoate general submitted that more funds would be made available for this purpose. He also produced districtwise list of the injured. The bench also directed director helath services, Kashmir, to ensure the avilablity of medicines in all the hosipitals where the injured were getting treatment. It also directed the SKIMS ditector to file status report regarding the availability of medicines and other items for tretamnet and actual supply made to the patients. Looking into urgency of matter, the bench directed the registry to list this PIL on July 18, 2016 at 10.30 am. —JNF |
