samba, July 15: Sale of adulterated milk is going on unchecked in Samba and its adjoining areas and there is no check as the concerned department has failed to take cognizance of repeated complaints of the people.
People alleged that several shopkeepers of Main bazar Samba, Bus stand and other adjoining areas of Samba are openly selling adulterated milk and complaints of people have not been paid any heed.
Last month the department collected samples of milk in various places of Samba town from the vendors and sent it to laboratories for testing, but people allege that that is only eye wash.
"The milk is not only diluted by adding water, but has many synthetic components added to it to maintain its density" said Dinesh, a local, adding, " at many places, vendors are openly mixing dirty water in the milk ,which has serious implications on the health of our children." Meanwhile, people have appealed to the district administration to constitute special checking squads which can randomly crackdown on those playing with the health of the people. |
