POONCH, July 27: Even as Dingla Jama Masjid to Dingla Upper Road is in dilapidated condition over the last few years, the Public Works Department (PWD) has failed to initiate any restoration work to bring back the road link to shape. Locals alleged that though funds to the tune of lakhs of rupees were earmarked for restoring the road but the amount sanctioned was swindled by some PWD officials. Mohd Shabir and Layaqat Hussain, residents of the area, alleged that after flodds in 2014, the department issued lakhs of rupees for repair of the said road but concerned Junior Engineer and Contractor conspired and embezzled the funds allocated for the same. When contacted, Executive Engineer PWD Mushtaq Raina, assured that he will investigate this matter deeply. The chairman of Insaaf Movement Javid Reshi warns that if the matter is not investigated, the movement will hold protest against department. |
