Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 27: High court judge Tashi Rabstan today ordered status-quo on the construction of a crusher, a hot mix plant and a tiles unit belonging to the son of a BJP minister at Dhanna in Basohli, Kathua. "The status-quo as on today shall be maintained till next date of hearing before the bench," he said after hearing the two sides. "Notice shall go to other respondents. Dasti service is also permitted," Justice Rabstan said while ordering to list the case immediately after two weeks. When the counsel for the minister's son sought time to file response, he said 'let the needful be done by or before the next date of hearing'. The court directive came in a petition filed by the residents of Dhanna and Barrah, seeking quashing of the NOCs and other permissions granted in favour of M/s Ravi Stone Crusher at Dhanna for setting up a stone crusher, hot mix plant and a unit manufacturing cement bricks, blocks and tiles. NOCs were issued by DC, Kathua, for setting up the units on the paddy growing irrigated agricultural land. The tehsildar, in his report, had certified that land was most fertile irrigated agricultural land and the DC had issued the NoC, violating SC ruling. CMO, Kathua, had issued NOC while no such NOC could be issued as the hot mix plant and the tiles unit could not be constructed near a health centre. It was alleged that NOCs and permissions issued to the minister's son for setting up of the unit by official respondents in contravention of law and set procedures was the result of the abuse of office and criminal conspiracy hatched by him in connivance with the official respondents.
