Denial of space to KPs emboldened separatists, radicals | Political parties themselves violated secular traditions of State | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 27: The violence which gripped the Kashmir Valley soon after the killing of dreaded militant Burhan Wani on July 8 in Kokernag area of South Kashmir district of Anantnag resulting into the attack on transit camps of migrant employees at different places in Kashmir Valley creating 1989-90 type situation again when mass exodus of Pandits took place is an indication that the separatists and subversive elements within Valley are tooth and nail opposed to the rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits on the behest of their mentors across the border. According to sources the killing of Hizbul Commander Burhan Wani was just ploy to launch an anti national movement in Kashmir again to harass the minority Pandits engaged under PM's employment package and sabotage any move of the government regarding the permanent rehabilitation of displaced Pandits in Valley in separate colonies the formula which was already floated by the Union and State governments. Sources said to harass these employees the separatists targeted the migrant camps at different places in Valley with the result some camp inmates of Haal Pulwama in South Kashmir fled during the night of July 10 and 11and took refuge at a shine in Srinagar for days together. Later the migrant employees form all camps shifted to Jammu and started an agitation here demanding their posting in camp office outside Valley till the issue is settled once for all and entire community is rehabilitated in Valley as per its aspirations. Though these migrant employees left the Valley for the safety of their lives and their other family members but it has created a piquant situation for both State and Central governments and providing security to these hapless employees has been a cause of concern as the majority community during the last 27 years after the mass exodus of Pandits have forgotten that they (minority Pandits) used to be the part and parcel of Kashmiri culture and the Kashmiriyat of which the entire India boasts minus Kashmiri Pandits neither have any value nor significance, sources added. Besides blaming this generation of youth and the radicals, the mainstream political parties including Congress, National Conference and BJP can't absolve their responsibility in this regard, sources said, adding these parties were showing only lip sympathy with hapless KPs and shedding crocodile tears on their plight as they never took concrete steps for restoration of the pluralistic culture in the Valley during last 27 years of turmoil in general and after 2005 in particular. Sources said that the Pandits who have played a remarkable role not only in Kashmir but Indian politics and freedom movement was for the first time totally ignored by not giving it any place in the State Cabinet when Ghulam Nabi Azad took as the Chief Minster in 2005 after he succeeded Mufti Mohammed Sayed. The lone Pandit MoS during the Mufti Sayed's Government was dropped by Azad who pruned his ministry after taking over. The precedence set by Azad who gave a great political jolt to the community was followed by his successors since then and the BJP which claimed to champion the cause also followed the same principle. Sources said merely giving a berth to one leader of community in the Cabinet or council of ministers would have not made any difference for the community at large but it would have given a message to the radical elements in Valley who forced the community to flee from Kashmir that the community is part and parcel of the Kashmiri culture and denying them space in Valley is not possible for them as not only India but all mainstream parties of the State are with them. Sources said it is not the question whether Pandits get a ministerial berth or not and it may hardly make any difference for the community but by giving a ministerial berth to the community a clear and loud message could have been sent to the radical forces to make it understand to them that the minority Pandits are part and parcel of Kashmir. Otherwise they know that if not freedom they have made an achievement by eliminating the minority Pandits from the political scene of the State as well and their design was stamped by the main stream politicians also. |
