Thanamandi locals protest against bad roads and poor health care 7/27/2016 10:45:13 PM Early Times Report Rajouri, July 27: Inhabitants of Thanamandi town and its adjoining areas today held a mass protest demonstration demanding to improve bad condition of Rajouri-Thanamandi road, and posting of specialized doctors in hospital at Thanamandi, compensation for the flood victims of 2014. Led by Shakeel Mir, Block President Congress, the protesters were demanding to improve the condition of Rajouri-Thanamandi road which is in dilapidated condition. The road is under the control of Border Road Organisation and it will be made two lanes for which widening work is required but it has black topped the existing road up to village Planger ( from Rajouri side) but left road stretch between Planger and Thanamandi. Speaking on occasion, Shakeel Mir stated that hospital of area is also lacking the basic facilities including specialized services for women and children. Mir further said that many genuine flood victims of 2014 have been ignored by the revenue officials in order to provide benefits to their blue eyed /relatives. "The matter was also taken up with Chief Minister and despite hollow promises nothing has been done to provide relief to genuine flood victims till today" said Mir.
