BBIA demands freight assistance scheme | | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 28: Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) demanded Freight Assistance Scheme for the Import/Export of foods of Industrial Sector of state. According to press release a meeting of BBIA was held today under the chairmanship of Lalit Mahajan, President, Bari Brahmana Industries Association to discuss the additional cost of freight being borne by the Industrial Sector of J&K for the Import of Raw Materials and Export of Finished Goods in respect Trade with the overseas Buyers. Members present in the meeting raised concern that due to non availability of Inland Container Depot in Jammu & Kashmir, the Importers and Exporters have no option but to pay additional cost of transportation for the goods traded through nearest Dry Port Ludhiana resulting non competitive of their products comparison to the Export Oriented Units located in the Coastal Areas. During the course of discussions, President Informed the Members present in the meeting that recently Haryana Govt. launched a Freight Assistance Scheme for Export Oriented Units under which the State Govt. will provide 1% FOB Freight Subsidy to such units to make their products competitive in the International Market. BBIA requested Mehabooba Mufti Chief Minister J&K and Chander Parkash, Industries and Commerce Minister for the grant of Freight Subsidy from Ludhiana to the Industrial Units for the Import/Export of their products & also take up the matter with the Central Govt. for the establishment of Inland Container Depot with rail connectivity. |
