Early Times Report

Srinagar, July 28: In wake of continuous clashes and subsequent violence in Kashmir valley, police authorities on Thursday said that they will compile the data of stone-pelters, instigators and those who motivate youth to resort to stone pelting. A senior police officer told Early Times that all the SHOs and SDPOs had been asked to compile the date regarding the known stone pelters and others who are involved in the stone pelting.
"The trouble mongers would be kept under strict surveillance and stern action under law will be taken against them for maintaining law and order situation," the officer claimed.
He said that police would continue action against the youth involved in stone pelting. "We have arrested some youth who we have videographed while being involved in stone pelting incidents on routine basis in the valley. Another police officer said that police are continuously analyzing the video-clips in order to identify the stone-pelters responsible for the disruption of peace. "We ensure that no innocent gets trapped and every arrest is made after proper assessment and visualization," he added.
When asked about the total number of arrests, he said, "I don't have actual numbers with me about the arrests we have made so far, but we are conducting raids and stone-pelters have been picked up from Qamarwari and other areas. We have also identified some more miscreants and they will be arrested soon," he said. Police sources said that at least 10 youth have been arrested by police during nocturnal raids in Srinagar city. "There is apprehension that some miscreants will continuously try to disrupt the law and order. We are vigilant and have launched crackdown against those miscreants," the police officer said. Sources said that police raided several houses at Rampur in Chattabal area of Srinagar last midnight and arrested at least 10 youths.
