Samba, Aug 16: People of village Raghu chack area of Ghagwal tehsil have been living into darkness for last 15 days after burning of a transformer, but the PDD department is totally unaware and nonchalant. A large number of people assembled in Main chowk Ghagwal and blocked National Highway for one hour on Monday evening against power failure in this area. Protester kept shouting against concerned MLA and district administration. Villagers of Raghu Chack said that the power of this area has been erratic for last 15 days. People suffer during peaks summer days but officers remain busy in at-home function at DC office complex Nandani hills at Samba on the eve of Independence Day. People alleged that they several time had made request to the district administration and officers of the concerned department but they dole out fake promises to the people. During peaks summer days new born babies and old age man are facing a lot of problems. After getting the information, SDM Ghagwal reached on the spot and pacified the protesters that the transformer will be replaced soon and power restored. Following assurance, people lifted dharna but cautioned that if the electricity is not restored soon, they would again block the National Highway. |
