Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 16: Paucity of funds has forced the executing agency to stop construction work on New Type Primary Health Centre (NTPHC) Gadigarh belying the claims of the government that all developmental works shall be completed within the stipulated time. A local resident of Gadigarh told Early Times that government has upgraded Sub Health Centre (SHC)Gadigarh as NTPHC and also sanctioned a new building at an estimate cost of Rs 2.20 crore having two wards, three staff quarters. Public Work Department (PWD) is the executing agency and the department has started the construction in the year 2013. Almost 90 percent work of the building was completed before March 2015 but astoundingly after that the construction work was stopped for reasons best known to department concern. Sham Singh Jamwal (Contractor) said that delay in release of funds is the main reason to stop construction. Till date government had released Rs 1crore and more than Rs 10 lakhs is still pending which was not released by department concerned for the last eight months due to which he had stopped the construction. Sham further said that if government released funds timely than the remaining work of the health institution would be completed within 6-8 months. When contacted PWD, XEn Construction Division -I Mohd. Abdullah said that the remaining funds of the building would be released within a month. "The construction work of the building will be completed in this financial year and same year department shall handover the building to health department" Abdullah assured. |
