Assault on PG doctor affected working in GMC&H | Junior docs continue strike | | Nitesh Sangral

Jammu, Aug 16: For the last three days, all junior doctors in Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) Jammu are on strike after a Postgraduate doctor was manhandled by attendants of a patient in GMC emergency on August 14, hitting medical services. However, few senior doctors are adding fuel for their vested interests. Moreover, Minister for Health and Medical Education has directed to increase security in GMC&H Jammu and asked the doctors on strike to resume their duties on Tuesday but the strike continues. Sources within GMC&H told Early Times that on August 14, the attendants of the brought dead patient assaulted a PG doctor of Medicine Department. The minister called a meeting with all Head of Departments of GMC&H Jammu to discuss the strike. The minister directed the administration to take necessary step to resolve the matter as soon as possible. "If the doctors, who are on strike fail to resume duties before 8 PM action should be taken in this regards (may be terminated from the service), "sources stated. "Few senior doctors who are instigators in the said strike are projecting themselves as loyalist of Minister as well as junior doctors to gain good will of both, "senior doctor seeking anonymity said. Sources stated that junior doctors called a meeting and deiced to continue their ongoing strike till then the administration will not obey their demands viz explanation of CMO who was on duty, long pending demand increased police security in GMC&H and action should be taken against Sub Inspector of GMC Police Chowki. Junior doctors will hold meeting tomorrow to decide further course of action. |
