Dearth of mattresses in SDH Mandi, puts patients to suffer 8/24/2016 10:35:19 PM Sarfraz Chak Early Times Report Mandi, Aug 24: Be it corruption or be the callous approach of concerned authorities, the patients are suffering due to acuste shortage of mattresses for the hospital beds thus forcing patients and their attendants to make arrangements of a comfortable bed at their own. Locals alleged that Sub District Hospital (SDH) Mandi already has earned infamy for lack of facilities for poor patients and now the hospital is offering beds to ailing patients even to patients suffering chronic diseases but without mattresses. "Majority of beds of this hospital, are without mattresses but if one manages to offer an enticement to Hospital staff -a mattress could be arranged easily, they alleged. In a glaring example of lack of facilities, beds without mattress could be seen in the picture which depicts the woeful tale of patients lying in the bare beds. Muhammad Anwar of Brachar village narrating his ordeal said, "I took my pregnant wife to SDH Mandi but surprisingly found all beds without mattresses causing inconvenience to the patients but none was there to listen their pain. He and other attendants lamented that besides this the SDH Mandi lacks of other facilities including shortage of medicines, specialists and even paramedical staff. Expressing their anguish over health department for failing to provide basic facilities, he said the health department is eroded with corrupted and due to which people are put to face problems.
