Ignoring Jammu, Ladakh would be disastrous | Kashmir unrest | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 24: Kashmir is again in sharp focus. The turmoil in Kashmir has captured the centre stage. All those who matter in the Indian political class and bulk of the so-called track-II operatives, opinion makers and human rights activities have become more than active. They are all talking about Kashmir, Kashmiri alienation and Kashmiri aspirations. Some are demanding pre-1953 position for Kashmir; some are asking New Delhi to rewind the clock back to 1947; some are describing Kashmir problem as a unique problem and pitching for its unique solution; some are telling New Delhi that the Kashmiri youth do not want jobs, economic packages and similar other things; they want something bigger; some are saying that New Delhi broke the promises it made to the Kashmiri Muslims; and almost all are vouching for dialogue between New Delhi, Kashmiri separatists and Hurriyat to resolve the so-called Kashmir issue on a permanent basis. The problem in Kashmir is religious, but none of them is acknowledging that the ongoing struggle in Kashmir is rabidly anti-India and it is nothing but jihad and theofascist movement. All are suppressing the truth and preaching falsehood. Credit goes to such anchors as Arnab Goswami of Times Now and Rohit Saldhana of Zee News who have been doing their best to expose the true nature of the movement in Kashmir. They are telling the nation that religion has much to do with the ongoing movement in the Valley. However, what is disgusting is that none is willing to give any space whatsoever to Jammu and Ladakh and what they stand for. They do not consider it desirable to refer to the woes of the enslaved Jammu and Ladakh. It appears that take Kashmir to mean the entire State of J&K and the Kashmiri Muslims the sole voice in the state. This biased approach or this rigorous exclusion of Jammu and Ladakh from the discourse has stung the people of these two regions. They are seething with anger. They are angry all the more because the Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh, who reached Kashmir today to hold parleys aimed at diffusing the situation in the Valley, will stay put in the valley for 48 hours and not visit Jammu and Ladakh to know what the people of these two strategically important regions want. It is wrong approach and wrong methodology. It is fraught with dangerous consequences. Delhi has to adopt holistic approach to ensure that Jammu and Ladakh remained peaceful and this is possible only if Delhi is willing to adopt a state-centric policy and discard the failed Kashmir-centric policy. |
