Timber mafia's bid to ferry 'green Deodar' tree foiled | | | Early Times report
Bhaderwah, Aug 25: The sleuths from Forest Department today fopiled the bid of the smuggling a green Deodar tree which was cut down in Kulshari Forest of Bhaderwah here during wee hours of today morning. According to District Forest Officer (DFO) Bhaderwah T B Singh, the timber smugglers entered the Kulsari forest area and cut a Deodar tree. "But alert guards informed the Control Room Forest Division Bhaderwah, Mr Singh said, adding, "Immediately a team was constituted and was rushed to the spot." "The prompt action from forest department sleuths didn't give enough time to smugglers to ferry the green deodar tree and they were forced to abandon the felled deodar tree," he added. DFO Bhaderwah informed that the timber smugglers escaped by taking the advantage of darkness in the area due to wee hours of morning. "The unidentified smugglers seemed to have decided to strike early in the morning so that they could take advantage of the continuing rain and darkness," said Mr Singh, adding, "during this operation one forester of special squad namely Khurshid Ahmed also received injury in his leg after slipping from a hillock. DFO Bhaderwah added this is the fourth Deodar wood smuggling bid foiled in one year. He also informed that a case stands registered in this connection while man hunt has been launched to nab the absconding accused. |
