| CM insists, leaves Omar red faced | | 5% Vs 95% | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 25: J&K CM Mehbooba Mufti and NC leader Omar Abdullah are face to face with each other. Mehbooba Mufti has been claiming day in and day out that the people of Kashmir are peace-loving and against the ongoing movement in the Valley, Omar Abdullah, who has been fishing in the troubled waters ever since the lawful liquidation of Lashkar commander Burhan Wani, on the other hand, is leaving no stone unturned to give the country to understand that the entire Muslim population of the Valley is involved in the ongoing anti-India movement in the Valley.
Both are face to face with each other for almost one week now. Mehbooba has been seeking to set the record straight by repeating again and again that it is 5% Vs 95% and that the vested interests and those who are against her person and the PDP-BJP coalition government are instigating these 5% undesirables to come on to the roads, attack police stations, CRPF and its camps, burn down the public property and create a situation that leads to killing of and injury to unruly protestors so that Kashmir Valley remained disturbed and shut. She has been making a point by exposing the vested interest. Today, also she reiterated her stand while addressing media persons in Srinagar along with Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
Not only Mehbooba Mufti, but her colleague in the Cabinet and separatist-turned-politician in his right, Sajad Lone, has also been echoing the same view. In fact, he was the first to disclose that only 5% Kashmiris come on to the roads to protest and cause mayhem. He even told Barka Dutt of NDTV 24X7 that those who were involved in the movement are 5% and they all belong to those falling under below poverty line (BPL). "All the people involved in the uprising fall in BPL (below poverty line) category," he told Barkha Dutt.
It is this insistence of Mehbooba Mufti and Sajad Lone that has rattled Omar Abdullah, all Kashmiri separatists, all Kashmiri intellectuals and civil society groups and it is Omar Abdullah, who is more vocal than others. To counter Mehbooba Mufti and Sajad Lone, Omar is putting forth spurious and untenable arguments. In fact, he is accusing Mehboba Mufti of adding more fuel to the fire by making such statements.
Omar Abdullah's statement assertions are not just ridiculous but they are also provocative and politically and communally motivated. It was expected that he would play positive role and contribute to restoration of normalcy in the Valley but is not too be. He is simply behaving like a small time politician thinking that what is doing to will fetch him good political gain. Gain at the cost of the people and the state |
