Locality belonging to under privileged still awaits ' Achche Din', sans basic amenities

Kathua, Aug 30: Union and State government may make tall claims of development but such claims may be restricted as a locality Sumuha housing downtrodden and dalits in W-2 of Kathua district still sans basic amenities which includes water and power supply.
Narrating his ordeal Krishan Chand, a local said, "Some three months ago electric transformer got defunct in this dalit colony, despite of several reminders to X En PDD, AEE and DDC Kathua, no action has been taken to restore power supply to this locality. He however alleged due attention is being paid to people of same areas who belong to upper castes.
Chand said that shortage of Power and drinking water supply since Independence made their lives tough and hard to study for students. He lamented that people belonging to upper classes of same village enjoy all facilities but district administration and elected representatives leave them on their own.
Humming similar opinion Joginder Kumar, said, "People had to walk several kms to collect drinking water as dig pump got defunct and PHE supply was yet to provide to entire locality.
"Concerned MLA/ MP too have not bothered to the development in their locality," he alleged and said such discrimination is adding miseries to their lives. He however said, " They have high hopes regarding the good governance slogan under PM Modi but PM also makes discrimination with dalits."
Ashok Kumar Sarpanch Sumuha Panchayat said that people have approached X EN, DDC Kathua to restore power supply but permanent solution of erratic supply yet has not sorted out and it is managed by temporary arrangements. "The concerned only admitted shortage of PHE pipelines in dalit locality, they said, adding, "he wanted to have such facility on priority basis to the locality."
When approached MLA Kathua Rajeev Jasrotia, he is unaware of the issue but outrightly discarded discrimination with any section of the society. He also assured to sort out the matter besides providing basic facilities in the locality on priority basis. Local MLA promised to pay personal visit in the locality to review the ground situation.
