| Police tightens noose around employees for anti-national activities | | Withhold salaries, take action' | |

srinagar, Aug 30: Tightening the noose around the government employees for being part of anti-India activities, police have sought the details from the departmental heads about the officials who had been part of stone pelting incidents and disturbing law and order for the last 52 days.
Police has already framed a list of over 200 employees for their involvement in anti-national activities, many have already been arrested. Further sources said the police have asked the departmental heads to frame the list of officials who had been fuelling the current unrest in the Valley.
"Besides police action, these officials will also face action at the departmental level," an official of general administration department said. The government has already issued a circular withholding salary of absentee employees.
"Before releasing the salaries, government has directed departmental heads and corporations to check with the police stations whether any of their employees was involved in anti-national activities," the official said.
The official said the FIRs will also be registered against those employees against whom police have evidence of their being part of stone pelting, anti-India sloganeering and creating law and order problem in the Valley.
The government has already warned employees of suspension and has decided to withhold their salaries in case they fail to report to the duties.
According to officials, employees including the teachers have been conveyed that their salaries for the month of August will not be released in case they fail to attend the work.
Government has also decided to book around 180 persons, which it accuses of being "organisers and provocateurs" in the current unrest in Kashmir under the Public Safety Act.
In this regard, the report said that the Director General of J&K Police K Rajendra Kumar on August 19 wrote a letter to Inspector General of J&K Police (Kashmir zone) Javaid Mujtaba Gilani. Police headquarters has sent a district-wise list of people who it thinks are behind the current protests.
A senior official said the operation to arrest the employees has been initiated and some of the accused employees have already been arrested.
A police spokesperson in a statement has said police has established helplines in the police control rooms of the respective districts for the general public who wish to inform regarding the "harassment by hooligans, stoppage and disruption of the traffic by miscreants, damage/arson of the traffic by miscreants, damage/arson to the public property or obstacles erected on roads/lanes" |
