Locals concerned over 'abandoned' GMS Plera building | | | Rajesh Tandon Early Times Report
Mandi Aug 31: Locals in Plera a remote village in Mandi of Poonch district have expressed their concerns over abandoning of Govt Middle School (GMS) Plera and demanded the building constructed should be utilized for education purpose or any other use instead of leaving it to perish. Locals said the five room building of school was constructed at huge government exchequer and this needs to be utilized for some other purpose if not as an school. Some locals recalled that education department under the guidelines of previous NC-Cong regime upgraded this school from Middle School Plera to High School and old middle school building was consisting of five rooms was abandoned by the education department. According to Javid Iqbal Reshi the chairman Insaaf Movement, some locals informed him that the school after up gradation has been moved to another place. "locals said building was congested for high school and thus the school was moved from here, Reshi said , adding, "but the authorities left the five room building to perish which was constructed at an estimated cost of one crore rupees of government exchequer. He endorsed the locals' opinion that this building should be used for any other purpose if it is congested for a school. Reshi however added when he tried to contact Chief Education Officer Lal Hussain telephonically, he didn't reply to his repeated calls reasons better known to the officer. Reshi also condemned the officer in chair for his alleged faulty transfer policy and demanded inquiry of the matter. |
