9/10/2016 11:01:29 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu Sept 10: A deputation of State Committee of CITU led by Jia Lal Parihar Sr. Leader of CITU met Additional Provident Fund Commission (EPFC), Jammu today over the issue of Employees Provident Fund in respect of contract workers working in NHPC Regional Office, Jammu.
The deputation briefed the APFC that some of these workers have been working in NHPC Regional Office - Jammu for more than ten years and employees' contribution have deducted from wages of all workers. The contractor have claimed huge amount towards EPF from the Principal Employer (NHPC) but neither he issued annual statement of EPF nor given any EPF account number to the workers.
The contract workers have visited a number of times to the office of APFC -Jammu but their complaints were not entertained. When the deputation stressed upon the APFC to show the records of the concerned contractor then we astonished to find out that EPF have deposited not in respect of the actual workers but in the name of other persons who are not working. It is also found that all the lists have been verified by the Principal Employer's (NHPC) representative Mr. Harindera Kumar, Assistant Engineer (Civil), who have been looking after the work of contractor.
The deputation urged upon the APFC to enquire into the matter and stringent action be taken against the defaulters and also urged to direct the Principal Employer to deposit EPF from back date in favour of the workers failing which CITU alongwith with thousand workers will protest in front of APFC Office.
