PoK Refugees constrained to live in Camps, courtesy Govt apathy: Chuni | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 10: SOS International - an Organisation for PoK Displaced Persons today organized a rally at Camp Gole Gujral in Jammu under its series of Refugees Awareness Campaign wherein speakers alleged that PoK Refugees are constrained to live in Camps till date courtesy Govt apathy. While speaking during the rally, SOS International Chairman, Rajiv Chuni said that the Gole Gujral Camp was established in 1947 when PoK Refugees were forced to leave their native places due to Tribal invasion in several parts of PoK (Pakistan occupied Kashmir). "The camp is still placed here which lacks basic amenities and PoK Refugees are constraint to live in this shabby and dilapidated camp while successive government kept blind eye towards the pitiable state of camp dwellers. "1947 PoK Refugees who have been fallen prey of various successive Governments who are still waiting to get rehabilitated even after the lapse of seven decades", he alleged. SOS International Chairman, Mr Chunni said that it is very heart-rending that till today there is no helping hand which could lessen the plight of PoK Refugees. He further said that Government is well versed in its discriminatory approach between PoK Refugees and Valley migrants. "Instead of providing us exclusive time to meet All Party Delegation led by Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh, we were cane charged with utmost brutality even Police detained 24 members of SOS International till ALL Party Delegation left for New Delhi", he rued. Among others who also addressed the gathering were Lalit Kumar, Roshan Lal, Tarvinder Singh, Bikram Jeet Singh, Amrik Singh, Charanjeet Singh Chottu, Harvinder Singh, VK Dutta, OP Khajuria and OP Sudan. |
