JYF demands introduction of biometric attendance system in JU | | | Early Times Report
Jammu Sept 11: The Jammu Youth Forum (JYF) urged the Governor N N Vohra to commence biometric attendance system in Jammu University (JU) to check the absenteeism of teachers and officials, as the same has been done in all the government offices to improve the functioning. Addressing a press conference here today, JYF University President Deepak Kumar said, "The absenteeism and lack of accountability has touched a new high in University of Jammu owing to poor administration of Vice Chancellor Prof Ramji Dass Sharma due to which students and scholars have been suffering badly," he said. He added that teaching and research work had received a setback due to the lack of accountability on side of teachers and officials but the Vice Chancellor and Registrar have failed to control this nuisance. "The state government introduced the biometric attendance system in all the government to ensure attendance in all the offices included Colleges so that work would not suffer," he further said. "The Governor (who is also Chancellor of the University) should think about Jammu University also which is suffering badly. Biometric attendance system should be introduced in the University to put a check on teachers and officials who are taking hefty salary but contributing nothing to the system," he demanded. Among those who were present in the press-conference included, Amit Chib, Ajay Sharma, Sumit Kumar ,and Anil Sharma. |
