Tara Chand deserts Azad camp for his new found | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 11: Following the direction of his new mentor, Mir the former Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand skipped the pre-scheduled public meeting by staunch Azad loyalist Advocate Mohinder Bhardwaj at Bishnah today. Absence of Tara Chand from the event has virtually confirmed the reports of his leaving the Azad camp and shifting loyalty to PCC president G A Mir, who was learnt to have desired for the same sending a signal to the rival camp. According to the sources in Congress circles, even as the programme was pre-scheduled and had the consent of Tara Chand, he skipped the event after G A Mir suggested him to maintain distance from all the Azad camp members. The event was attended by Dr Manohar Lal, Aslam Goni, Ashok Sharma and other members of Azad camp. While elaborating, sources said that G A Mir had come to know about the event and possible participation of Tara Chand in the same through his block president and senior leader Shashi Sharma, a staunch loyalist of Madan Lal Sharma. As Shashi Sharma expressed his reservation over organizing of public meeting by the Azad loyalist in his area, sources said that G A Mir asked Tara Chand to skip the event. After the organizers of the event found Tara Chand missing, they repeatedly tried to establish contact with him but he did not respond, sources informed. Even Manohar Lal Sharma, who is known for his closeness with Tara Chand, also had no reason to pacify the Azad loyalists about skipping of the event by the later, sources added. As already reported by the ET, Tara Chand had a secret meeting with G A Mir at Srinagar last week where he offered to quit the Azad camp and completely surrender before the mainstream group if he is given due recognition and preference over senior vice-president Sham Lal Sharma. |
