Criminals loot lady medicos in Miran Sahib area | Police inaction triggers protest, locals aghast | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 11: Swift growth of lawlessness in Miran Sahib area has once again exposed the ineffectiveness of those who are responsible for maintaining law and order in the area with females feeling insecure to move freely due to domination of miscreants. Yesterday night three youth riding a motorcycle intercepted a female doctor who was accompanying her cousin and was returning home after duty. She was intercepted by the miscreants near Dak Bunglow Marallian. The miscreants allegedly thrashed them and snatched their belongings. Police sources said that on the description of the victim, police identified the miscreants as Zakir Hussain alias Faala son of Bashir Ahmed of Phinder, Bishnah, Lal Hussain alias Lallu son of Mohd. Miyan of Laswada and Baag Hussain alias Baagu son of Bau Din of Laswada. The accused, according to police, are history sheeters and a case under FIR 56/2016 under sections 382, 4/25 already stands registered against the trio at police station Bari Brahmana. They were subsequently shifted to police stations Vijaypur and Ghagwal from where they fled away and are still at large. They also looted an ATM from the jurisdiction of Gandhi Nagar police station and were involved in cases in the police station under the jurisdiction of Bishnah, Gandhi Nagar, Bari Brahama, Vijaypur and Ghagwal. While talking to Early Times, Davinder Kumar (Raju) Mandal Pradhan and ex-sarpanch informed that two female employees, who were going home after performing their duty in their private car were forcefully stopped by some criminals near Dak Banglow Maralia last night. He said that both the victims immediately approached Police Station Miran Sahib with their complaints but instead of immediately swinging into action to apprehend the culprits, local police allegedly adopted delay tactics. They said the locals protested against the lethargic approach of police. Sources said that till late night protests staged a sit-in before police station Miran Sahib but in vain. Tenacity of protesters not to leave police station till the culprits are arrested infuriated police personnel and they were dispersed late midnight with mild charge on the peaceful protesters. Sources said that since the situation was getting worse in Miran Sahib, senior police officer deputed two SHOs (Bishnah and Arnia) to control the law and order problem. They said that the police party led by SHO went to raid the hideout of criminals who had been identified by the aggrieved ladies. It was alleged that instead of tracing out and arresting the culprits from the identified place, the police failed to lay hands on them and came back empty handed. This led situation taking an ugly turn and police resorted to minor lathi charge and protestors pelted stones, sources said. However, a case under FIR No. 135/16 under sections 341, 323, 382 of RPC was lodged late midnight to mollify the protesters. Sources told Early Times that illegal activities are flourishing unabated in the area with a few people living near Dak Banglow allegedly indulging into unlawful adventures with impunity. Sources said that general notion of the public is that the people living there are allegedly encouraging bovine smuggling, anti national activities, illegal weapons within that vicinity. They said the shameful episode of attacking two women seems to be the act of such miscreants where people of dubious character keep coming from various far off areas for unknown reasons. The police department should activate its local information network to find out the real picture of illegal activities if any, operating from there as alleged by the general public, sources demanded. Sources revealed that today again the protestors demonstrated against failure of police to take into custody the perpetrators of crime on these two ladies and blocked road at Miran Sahib for over two hours. However, the dharna was lifted and road traffic cleared on the assurance of concerned SP for arresting the culprits soon. Om Parkash while talking to Early Times said that criminal activities are on the rise in Miran Sahib insisting that the promotion of unlawful acts by miscreants are due to existing big racket of drugs peddlers operating in this area without any fear of law and order enforcement agencies. He said that elimination of drug peddlers can bring down the graph of crime considerably in this area and added that if the police department cannot do this, at least it can work out a strategy to exclusively launch big ever strive to bust the racket and minimize the drugs operators to a great extent. Sources said that both the police nakas existing at Kotli Mian Fateha and Dak Banglow Maralia were removed sometime back making the activities of criminals easier. Questioning the removal of nakas at the most strategic spots, sources said that had there been naka at Dak Banglow, criminals would not have dared to attack both these ladies and snatched their belongings at night, they bemoaned. They demanded that Naka at Dak Banglow be restored to put a lid on unlawful activities in future. |
