| Tainted officer manages repeated postings between SIE, DIET | | Beyond hyped transfer policy in Education department | | Abodh Sharma

Jammu, Sept 11: The tall claims of the department of education of streamlining its transfer policy are proving to be farce as the influential and blue eyed are managing choice postings in complete departure from the policy guidelines.
While many a teachers, masters and lecturers who are facing genuine issues related to health and pressing family constraints are driven out from the directorate citing newly laid policy guidelines, several others have managed to arm twist the authorities to give them choice postings despite their tainted past.
Sources in the department divulged to ET that one Charan Dass, primarily a lecturer in Physics and an officer of the level of the CEO has managed his to and fro postings between DIET (District Institute of Education and Technology) and SIE (State Institute of Education) enjoying complete immunity to the policy guidelines. In the latest order of transfer issued by the directorate of school education Jammu, the said blue eyed officer has yet again been transferred from SIE to DIET Jammu. According to the order no. 472-DSE-J-2016 dated September 3, 2016, Charan Dass who appears on serial no. 333 has been transferred from SIE to DIET Jammu. "Earlier, he was posted from DIET to SIE and before that from SIE to DIET, which is a shameful disregard of the transfer policy, which the department uses to deny convenient postings to the needy" said an official of the directorate of school education Jammu, pleading anonymity. "This man, who is a lecturer in physics, has never taught the students in last 15 years" he added, taking a dig at the manner in which such blue eyed were calling shots in the department.
Sources also disclosed that the said officer who claims to be 'think tank' of a teachers' body of the state has a tainted past. "He was trapped red handed on the complaint of one of the students while facilitating cheating in a centre in a city school where he was the superintendent. He was in the lock up in Pucca Danga police station following the raid", disclosed the source. "You can well imagine the fate of the department where such tainted people are influencing the policies" he added.
Meanwhile, ET has learnt that many such official and officers in the Education department who claim to be leaders of the forums/associations/unions have managed convenient postings for themselves by blackmailing and arm twisting the authorities. |
