Sikh community holds conference | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sep 11: A Sikh community Conference was held under the president ship of Charanjeet Singh Khalsa. Dy. CM. Dr. Nirmal Singh was the Chief Guest and Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta was the Guest of Honour graced the conference by their esteemed participation. The conference was attended by a large number of delegations of Sikh population from all over the Jammu province as well as from Kashmir Valley, Sikh youth prominently showed their interest by participation in the conference. The conference was organised to discuss and highlight the major issues concerning the exclusive 4-5\Sikh population of J&K State. The major issues facing by the Sikh community of the State highlighted were permanent Relief & Rehabilitation of Displaced parsons of 1947 from POJK waiting for justice for the last 68 years, award of minority commission Act to Sikh Minority Community in J&K State, restart teaching of Punjabi Language, the mother tongue of Sikh community in schools of J&K State, implementation of Anand Karaj Marriage Act, issue of special security and employment to Sikh population living in the Valley and other mountainous backward areas of the state and measures to support the community affected from the suffering transport business in the State. S. Jagjit Singh Sudan convener MJR-47 told the gathering that during the tribal raid of 1947 40,000 families of Sikhs & Hindus had to migrate from areas Muzaffarabad, Poonch & Mirpur Distt. of the State now falling under POK leaving their homes & earth. More than 4500 of their kith & kens were killed in the genocide by the raiders duly aided by then PAK army. These families have enters in their 3rd- 4th generation and are still waiting for permanent Relies and Rehabilitation while still living in the refugee camps for the last 7 decades. Their issue of permanent Rehabilitation must be resolved immediately. |
