Rajouri, Sept 11: In a high level security review meeting held at Rajouri today, directions were issued to police and civil administrations to take stringent measures to maintain peace in Rajouri and Poonch districts. Apart from DGP K Rajendra and chief secretary B R Sharma, the meeting was also attended by senior police and civil officers. The meeting was held in the conference hall of PWD dak bungalow to take stock of special security measures ahead of eid as there was apprehension of violence on the festival eve. Besides the CS and the DGP, the meeting was also attended by S P Vaid, Special DG Coordination, Law and Order, R K Goel, Principal Secretary (Home), Brig Satinder Singh, deputy GOC (officiating GOC) Ace of Spades Division, Maj Gen Dimri,GOC of Romeo Force (CIF), IGP Danish Rana, Rajouri-Poonch range DIG (now promoted as IGP) Johnny William, Rajouri DC Shabir Ahmed Bhat, Rajouri SSP Rajeshwar Singh, and Poonch DC. "District administrations of both the district were directed to maintain peace, brotherhood and tranquility in both the districts. Directions were issued to take stringent measures against trouble creators," Rajouri DC said. When asked about the security review after militants' attack in Poonch district today, he said, "Police checking on the roads and highway will be increased and strict surveillance would be kept on the movement of suspected elements. Security measures are already in place in Rajouri district". Senior police officers confirm the presence of a few militants in the upper reaches of Pir Panjal mountains. |
