Media XI thumps Hindi Newspapers XI by 49 runs
Ranjit's power packed knock steals the show

Jammu, Sept 11: Riding high on the top class performance with bat and ball Media-XI outclassed Hindi Newspapers-XI by a huge 49 runs margin in a 12-over reduced cricket match played here at Phallian Mandal Cricket Ground on Sunday.
Led by Captain Mir Imran Media XI won the toss and elected to bat first but lost initial wickets early when the match was reduced to 12 over game from 16 over due to technical problem. Ranjit played a fluent knock of 60 runs in just 23 balls laced with six boundaries and five towering sixes. He took Rohit on charge by hitting four sixes and garnered 29 runs in the over. Earlier, Faheem Tak 24 runs off 18 balls steadied the innings for Media XI by hitting 4 boundaries and made a comeback after initial blow he was ably supported by Ankush who played a quick knock of 18 runs off just 7 balls. But it was the power hitting by Ranjeet Singh in the death overs that lifted the Media XI to post huge 149 runs after 12 overs.
Rohit Sharma bagged 2 wickets and remained the pick of the bowlers for Hindi Newspapers XI.
Later, Led by Naveen Hindi newspapers XI surrendered themselves to the disciplined bowling attack by the Media XI bowling unit and could not overcome the pressure of huge run chase as they was nothing riding on for Hindi Newspapers XI, except the opportunity for Amit to salvage some pride as he scored 31 runs off 24 balls before getting out. Rohit 21 runs off 18 balls seconded him get in double figures.
Fiery bowling by Nitin earned him three wickets as he remained the pick of the bowlers for Media XI with Rahul Khatri clinched 2 wickets in back to back balls to restrict Hindi Newspapers on 100 at the loss of 6 wickets. With this, the Media XI clinched the match with 49 runs. The man of match was awarded to Ranjit Singh for his brilliant knock with bat. The ground arrangement was made by Manmohan Khajuria.
